Candidate for Mayor
Tisha S. Waddell is a principled public servant, seasoned strategist, and former two-term Fayetteville City Council Member running for Mayor of Fayetteville, North Carolina. Known for her commitment to transparency, ethical governance, and community-first leadership, Waddell has long championed the belief that public office is a calling, not a career.
During her tenure on the City Council, she prioritized infrastructure improvements, launched innovative civic programs like the City Social and Community Voices Leadership Initiative, and spearheaded a down payment assistance program for police officers, pushing to expand it to teachers and first responders. She also co-founded the Cumberland County Women’s Caucus of Elected Officials and fought to protect public ownership of utilities, notably opposing the proposed sale of PWC due to concerns about transparency.
In 2021, Waddell made headlines when she resigned from office on principle, citing ethical violations and a lack of oversight within city leadership. That decision, guided by faith and integrity, solidified her reputation as a bold, independent voice for accountability in government.
Today, Waddell is an unaffiliated candidate in the mayoral race. Her platform focuses on restoring public trust, enhancing neighborhood safety, and supporting the next generation of ethical leaders. A longtime resident and advocate, she brings decades of community-building experience, a faith-centered approach, and a bold vision for a Fayetteville that works for all.
“This isn’t about politics. It’s about people, and doing the right thing, publicly and consistently.”
— Tisha S. Waddell
