Veteran, Advocate, Servant Leader
Kathy Greggs is a proud U.S. Army Combat Veteran who has dedicated her life to service—first in uniform and now as a leader in her community. Born in Camden, New Jersey, and raised in Germany in a strong military family, Kathy learned early the values of faith, discipline, and duty to country.
After her military service, she founded the Police Accountability Community Taskforce (Fayetteville PACT), working with law enforcement, civic leaders, and residents to build trust and promote safer communities. A certified FEMA Disaster Operations Manager, she has led relief efforts during major national disasters.
Kathy has held key leadership roles, including Chair of the Fayetteville Board of Commissioners for Public Arts, Vice Chair of the Cumberland County Veterans Council, and Veterans Committee Chair for the Fayetteville NAACP. She served as North Carolina Director and Military Liaison for the Domestic Violence Rally, Co-Advocate for the Pathway to Prosperity program, and a rape crisis advocate with the Phoenix Center. She also volunteered as a Teen Court Judge in Cumberland County.
Her nonprofit work includes board service with the ACLU of North Carolina, Pro-Choice NC, NewLife 2nd Chances, and the NC National Organization for Women. A founding member of Organizing Against Racism in Cumberland County and part of the Sheriff Trusting Communities steering committee.
Kathy has been honored with several awards for her leadership and dedication, including the Juneteenth Freedom Pioneer Award, the Presidential Volunteer Service Bronze Award, Cumberland County’s “I Care” Volunteer Service Award, the NC A. Philip Randolph Institute’s Community Outreach Award, and the Federal Career Service Bronze Award. She was named one of the Inspired 100 Women and was nominated as Canada’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2023.
Her life story is captured in her award-winning book, The Mother, The Soldier, The Activist, which won the 2024 International Impact Book Award. She’s also the producer of two educational documentaries: Justice Will Prevail:Envisioning AI’s Impact on Humanity, which looks at the growing influence of artificial intelligence, and The American Rescue Plan Documentary, which focuses on helping underserved communities get the support they need.
Kathy Greggs believes in strong families, faith-based service, personal responsibility, and making sure no one is forgotten—especially veterans, first responders, and survivors. Her work is guided by her belief that lasting change happens when we stand firm in our values, treat others with respect, and never give up on doing what's right.
