Commissioner
My name is Joanne Scarola. I was born and raised in Shirley, New York, on Long Island. In 1998, I joined the United States Army and proudly served for 20 years before retiring in 2018. During my time in the military, I completed six overseas deployments—three to Iraq, one to Afghanistan, one to Bosnia, and one to Kuwait.
After retirement, I returned to Hope Mills, where I pursued my degree in Automotive Systems Technology and earned certifications in welding. In 2021, I ran for Hope Mills Commissioner and was honored to be elected. In 2023, I was proud to be reelected, continuing my service to the town and its residents.
Today, I remain dedicated to serving my community with the same commitment I carried throughout my military career, working every day to help Hope Mills grow stronger for the future.
